			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>ASP.Net Temp data is great for displaying messages to the user. It is similar to using Flash in Ruby on Rails. Lets get started on writing our own Flash HtmlHelper for ASP.Net MVC.</p>
<p>The enum that specifies the type of the Flash Message is as given below. </p>

<p>The class that represents the FlashMessage is as given below.</p>

<p>Finally FlashHelper class contains the logic for adding a flash message and displaying the FlashMessage. The code is as given below.</p>

<p>The <em>Flash method </em>is a HTMLHelper extension method. To display the <em>FlashMessage</em> in your view you can use the following code.</p>

<p>The <em>AddFlash method</em> is an extension method for the<em>TempDataDictionary</em>. In your controller action you can call this method to populate the<em>FlashMessage</em> to display.</p>

<p>Now all that remains is styling the css for the message. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.jankoatwarpspeed.com/post/2008/05/22/CSS-Message-Boxes-for-different-message-types.aspx">A very good article</a>on styling these messages is posted by Janko. I am using the same CSS with different class name viz. <em>flash-info, flash-warning, flash-error</em> and <em>flash-success</em>.</p>
